Assisted living residences offer personal care services to those who can live independently but may require some help with daily activities.
Tips & Links
Assisted living residences are also called retirement homes or supportive housing. This type of housing is for seniors and people with debilitating health conditions, and physical and cognitive disabilities.
Eligibility
- Learn about eligibility requirements and the services provided by assisted living residences from Healthlink BC.
- Based on your home care assessment, you can be eligible for assisted living services, if you can make decisions on your own behalf, are at risk remaining in your current living environment; and have agreed to pay the assessed client rate and any additional optional charges for services.
- Also, you can be eligible for a short-term stay in assisted living if you have recently been discharged from an acute care hospital, require care to prevent or reduce the need for hospital or emergency department services or admission to a long-term care home, or have a life-limiting illness requiring respite care.
