- Talk to your health advocate and physician to see if this might be a good option for you. It alerts police, first responders, and emergency staff to your specific health needs when you cannot communicate for yourself. In the event of an emergency, a family member or designated emergency contacts can be notified.
- Custom engraving on your ID alerts first responders to your conditions, illnesses, allergies, medications, or devices. Your unique subscriber number gives first responders access to your personal health information that you gave to Medic Alert with your subscription.
- Learn about special bracelets for diabetes, epilepsy, dementia, asthma, heart conditions, autism and severe allergies to foods and medications.
- Know that you can get a medic alert bracelet for a Do Not Resuscitate or No CPR order (CPR).
- Understand that there is a $75 registration fee.

- Talk with your physician, specialist or pharmacist to determine who to call for what and when.
- Explore the Medic Alert partnership programs to help offset costs.
- Call emergency services (911) if symptoms become life-threatening or you have difficulty breathing, severe chest pain, loss of consciousness.
- Reach out to 811 to ask for general health information, direct you on how to monitor your symptoms, or help you in finding health care in your community, if needed. Navigation services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from Healthlink BC.
