COVID-19 is a respiratory disease caused by the virus SARS-CoV-2. It is spread mostly from person to person.

Tips & Links

  • The Covid-19 illness and virus were first identified in 2019, and the World Health Organization declared it a pandemic in March 2020.
  • Some people who contract COVID-19 can experience mild to moderate illness, with few requiring hospital care.
  • Seniors, people with health conditions or autoimmune diseases, as well as infants and toddlers, are more likely to experience more severe symptoms. Talk to your physician and have a plan for covid-19 vaccinations and treatment.
  • Learn about covid-19 vaccinations, booster shots, testing, mask wearing, and hand-washing to make informed decisions for yourself from the BC Centre for Disease Control.
  • Stay informed about current guidance and recommendations from your local health authority.
  • In BC, non-medical information about COVID-19 is available 7:30am-8pm, 7 days a week by phoning 1-888-COVID19 (1-888-268-4319).
